The Ghana High Commission, in collaboration with Southwark Council, undertook a strategic engagement with Ghanaian-owned businesses across the borough, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with the diaspora and support enterprise development.
The delegation, led by H.E. Mrs Sabah Zita Benson, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, together with the Deputy High Commissioner, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, visited a number of Ghanaian businesses, interacting directly with entrepreneurs to better understand their operations, challenges, and opportunities for growth. This was followed by a roundtable discussion with Ghanaian business leaders and community members, providing a platform for open dialogue on investment, trade facilitation, and community advancement.
As part of the visit, the High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner also held a productive meeting with the leadership of Southwark Council, including the Mayor and key council officials. Discussions centred on strengthening institutional collaboration, promoting inclusive economic opportunities, and exploring areas of mutual benefit between the Ghanaian community and the borough.
The engagement underscores the High Commission’s commitment to deepening partnerships at the local level, supporting Ghanaian businesses in the UK, and fostering a vibrant and connected diaspora, the 17th Region, as a key partner in Ghana’s development.
